Gardening, cooking, working, life here is much the same from day to day. Even so, here's the news.

Hi The captions are very amusing - and -- as in the case of the crocus which I mistook for fried eggs -- helpful! Also the beaver reverie. Nice in a haikuish way. I notice my previous attempt at leaving a comment failed. I've no idea why. It echoed Sarah's comments. // I was curious - how does being so networked jive with being so physically off the beaten trail? I'll try calling again soon. Warm regards Ed C

Dear friends,
LIFE IS VERY GOODhere on what I laughingly call a farm. (Laughing because we don't do much farming--some flowers and vegetables, and beyond that we just let things grow on their own.) For some time I've wanted to find a way to share a bit of this life with my dear, scattered friends. Now, thanks to Blogger, the mechanism is at hand! I do hope you'll be able to check in from time to time to see how things are going here on the farm. I promise pictures, but not so many postings that anybody is likely to feel overwhelmed. If I find myself going on too much about one topic, I'll break it out into a separate blog: In fact, I've already done that with three of my favorite subjects. If you're interested, see the list of my blogs below. Much love to all of you from your friend Flora.
Burned out after more than 20 years as a Chicago journalist, in 1993 I moved to Seattle and began designing wildlife-friendly gardens and natural landscapes. Now I live on my own 250 acres of land in the Acadian Forest region of the Northeast; I am making a home both here and, increasingly, on the Internet. Having had a well-misspent life, I now have the time to indulge my interests: food, plants, critters, ecology, technology, philosophy.
